Recently, compulsive gambling has become a major issue in the State of
Minnesota and across the country. Because of the interest generated by
our members and directors at the Third Annual Minnesota Lawful Gambling
Convention & Expo ACM has worked for  six years with the Minnesota
Council on Compulsive Gambling  to raise funds for their their youth
programs.

 The Adolescent Compulsive Gambling Prevention and Education Program is
aimed at adolescents, parents, educators, and community leaders. The
overall goal of the program is to increase awareness of the problems
associated with underage gambling.

 The program has developed materials such as brochures, a video called
"Andy's Story" and a book entitled "Wanna Bet? Everything you ever
wanted to know about Teen Gambling but never thought to ask". The
materials are utilized by community groups, schools, and others across
the State of Minnesota.

 The mission of the Minnesota Council on Compulsive Gambling is to:

 •Develop and implement prevention and education services targeting
youth;

 •Provide clinical training to health care professionals;

 • Provide research-based information to educators, policy-makers, and
others;

 •Refer problem gamblers and their families to community-based services.

 The message to young people is that, as with other potentially
addictive behaviors, gambling activities also hold choices and
consequences.
