ACM Model Employee Handbook Update

ACM October/November Newsletter, page 6

ACM is pleased to announce that the  Model Employee Handbook that has been in development for the past two years is nearing completion. We should be receiving the final draft from Hinshaw & Culbertson, the law firm we hired to develop the manual, on Friday, November 7, 1997. We will have it reproduced over the weekend and expect to distribute a copy to all current ACM Members & Associate Members the week of November 10 - 14, 1997.

It is our intent to get the Model Employee Handbook in your hands prior to The 7th Annual Minnesota Lawful Gambling Convention & Expo so that organizations and their representatives that are attending the Convention & Expo will have a chance to look it over before the Convention & Expo. Kevin Staunton and Craig Trepanier of Hinshaw & Culbertson will be conducting a seminar entitled "Employee Handbook - What It Is & Why Your Organization Should Have One" at the Convention & Expo and as most organizations do not have an employee handbook we are strongly recommending that each and every organization at the Convention & Expo make sure that at least one representative attend one of their two sessions.

This important seminar offered once on Friday afternoon and once on Saturday morning will look at the importance of organizations having an employee handbook and will be an examination of the provisions in the new ACM Model Employee Handbook.

The Allied Charities Of Minnesota Board of Directors decided to have a Model Employee Handbook developed because we were alarmed at how few organization currently had employee handbooks. Hopefully, organizations will now be better able to develop an Employee Handbook for their lawful gambling operations. Remember, charitable gambling is a business and should be run as such.
